MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Incumbent State Senator Miriam Paris announced a new endorsement in her bid for re-election to the Georgia Senate, District 26 seat.
Bibb County Commissioner Joe Allen, State Representative Allen Peake, Unity-N-Community Chairman Al Tillman, former opponent Irving Martinez, along with several local realtors, brokers and radio personalities showed at Paris' headquarters to announce that they will back her in the upcoming run-off election.
The group is formerly known as "Men for Miriam" and Paris says they are working together across racial and party lines.
"It is important to have male support and it shows that I am strong enough to get the job done, smart enough to get the job done and they believe me," says Senator Paris. "I appreciate the support I get from all aspects of the community."
Paris will take on former state representative David Lucas in the run-off election for the senate seat on August 21.
Early voting in the run-off election begins August 13.
