CENTERVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- The city of Centerville is considering ending a property tax exemption for elderly residents. Tuesday night, Centerville City Council decided to work towards ending a tax exemption for residents who are over the age of 70. Council Member Cameron Andrews says the council would like to put the exemption on the November ballot for voters to vote on.
Andrews says the percentage of residents getting the property tax exemption is a little over 8 percent. The council says if they don't get rid of the tax exemption, there is a possiblity that taxes could go up.
