WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) -- Warner Robins Mayor Chuck Shaheen says some city council members brought up the idea of changing the structure of the city's government, to include a city manager and a part time mayor, but Shaheen doesn't believe that's what the citizens need or want.
Mayor Shaheen says he suggests that instead of a city manager, they need a chief operating officer. Then, the mayor can focus more attention on helping the city grow.
"We're a business in that we need to make sure that we run it with business principals but that we continue to move our city forward but there are so many things that happen on a day-to-day that it is a good thing to have somebody that can continue to operate those things, and let me make sure that we are keeping our city viable, strong and working with Robins Air Force Base," says Shaheen.
The mayor says a COO would allow him to focus on new projects like building a new sports complex, and strengthing the city's partnership with RAFB.
