MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Milledgeville man is dead after he crashed his car head-on into incoming traffic.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, 65-year-old Timothy Collins was driving a Toyota Scion IQ southbound on State Route 49 around 12:40 p.m. Drivers in a Ford Fusion and Mitsubishi Mirage were traveling in the opposite direction. GPS says that is when Collins crossed the double line and stuck the Ford head-on.
After the crash, Collins' car spun out and he was ejected. He died on scene.
The driver of the Mirage drove off the roadway to avoid another collision with the Scion and went into a ditch. The drivers of the two other cars were transported to the Medical Center of Central Georgia.
Baldwin County deputies blocked off SR 49 for hours while GSP investigated. There are no charges.
