BRUNSWICK, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - Pierce County Sheriff's Deputy Randy Strickland was arrested on federal charges Thursday, according to the Department of Justice.
Strickland is charged with trafficking methamphetamine. According to a news release from the Southern District of Georgia, Strickland allegedly agreed to act as a lookout for people he believed were dealing meth. The release states Strickland was in uniform and driving his deputy vehicle when the drug activities allegedly occurred.
"Police corruption leaves a permanent stain on the good work of our law enforcement community," United States Attorney Edward Tarver stated. "Make no mistake that defendants who violate the trust of this community, law enforcement or otherwise, will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."
He appeared in federal court Friday and is being held without bond.
