KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (GCSU RELEASE) – The No. 16 Georgia College golf squad finished in seventh place among 17 teams Tuesday at the 2013 Kiawah Island Invitational, hosted by USC Aiken. The Bobcats posted a 15-over on the 6,875-yard, par-72 Cougar Point Golf Course, firing rounds of 286 and 305.
For the second-straight week, senior Bryan Fox (Roswell, Ga.) finished 12th overall and first for the Bobcats, this time the reigning Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Player of the Week carded rounds of 72 and 73 for one-over par in the 85-golfer field.
Classmate Victor Monte (Chantilly, Va.) joined Fox with a top-20 finish, taking 15th at two-over. Monte followed yesterday's 71 with a 75 today.
Junior Ryan Trocchio (Norcross, Ga.) scorched the course yesterday for a 68, but fell to 21st overall and plus-four after an 80 today.
Playing in his first tournament after missing last year due to injury, David Sullivan (Woodstock, Ga.) carded rounds of 78 and 77 as the lone Bobcat golfer to improve on yesterday's effort. Sullivan's 11-over put him 59th. Freshman Harry Lambert (Suwanee, Ga.) saw his first collegiate action this week, finishing 69th at 13-over par on rounds of 75 and 82.
No. 11 University of North Alabama won the team title at four-over par on rounds of 282 and 298, edging host No. 6 USCA by just a single stroke. A large part of the reason why was the Lions' individual champion Conner Godsey, posting a pair of 69s for six-under par, topping the field by four strokes.
The Bobcats are back in action Monday, Sept. 23 at the Jay Jennison Memorial in St. Augustine, Fla. hosted by Flagler College.
