CHARLOTTE, NC - Peachtree City, Georgia native Reed Sorenson is riding a wave of momentum after a strong showing at Iowa Speedway this past weekend. The driver of the Dollar General #32 team posted his second consecutive top-five finish and led the most laps of any driver during the event.
Sorenson's 4th place finish kept him second in the NASCAR Nationwide Series championship standings. He is just seven points behind the leader as he heads into this weekend event at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
"I'm excited to race at Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend," he said. "It's great for us to be able to have the week at home as well as participate in events for all the fans that come to town for the races. The guys have been preparing me awesome race cars and I'm excited to get out on the track at CMS to see what we have this week."
After he finishes the Nationwide race at Charlotte on Saturday afternoon, Sorenson will head to Indianapolis to cheer on his Dollar General Racing teammate Ed Carpenter, who is competing in the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday. Carpenter, driver of the #67 Dollar General car for Sarah Fisher Racing, will start eighth in the 100th running of Indy 500.
"I'm very grateful to have the opportunity to attend the 100th running of the Indy 500 this weekend with Dollar General," said Sorenson. "I know that my DG teammates on the IndyCar side have worked really hard to prepare for the race at Indianapolis and it showed in their qualifying effort over the weekend. It should be a great event and I'm excited to see the race."
